Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) is a leading independent school group with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. Teaching is in both Swedish and English, and the hallways are bilingual. The language of meetings and communication amongst the staff is English.

IES is one of Sweden's largest school groups at compulsory school level with 48 schools and around 32,000 students across the country. IES has grown steadily and maintained quality since 1993.

IES Östersund is now looking for a school librarian who wants to work with a focus on the educational mission. This mainly involves work with reading and reading promotion, language development, media and information literacy, including source criticism and “source trust”. The mission also entails sustainably, systematically, and in line with research and the school's governing documents, shifting the perception of the school library from a physical place to being a concern for the entire school and a tool in the systematic quality work to increase students' goal fulfillment.

As a person, you are driven and development-oriented. You are outgoing and can meet both students and colleagues in a solution-oriented and positive manner. You are very comfortable interacting with students of all ages and enjoy teaching groups or classes on your own. To succeed in your role, you need to be able to take initiative and, depending on the needs and situation, work independently or together with others. We place great importance on personal suitability in this recruitment as it is important for us that you fit into our team.

Who are you?

  • You have a degree in library and information science and previous experience working as a school librarian in primary education.
  • You have good knowledge of literature and information retrieval, GDPR, and privacy in handling user data.
  • You have an understanding of the school curriculum and how the library can support students' learning.
  • You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English and have high digital competence.
  • You also have good pedagogical skills with an understanding of how students absorb knowledge and their different conditions.

Here you have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and rewarding environment, and we welcome all motivated and enthusiastic individuals to submit their applications to become part of our team!

Recruitment is ongoing. Please send your application with your CV and cover letter to recruitment.ostersund@engelska.se (mailto:recruitment.ostersund@engelska.se).
